Malizia is a former goalkeeper. He had his best time at Perugia, playing 156 matches from 1974 to 1982. He was featured in the squad mainly in the last four years, appearing in almost all the matches in the legendary 1978-79 Serie A season, playing less regularly in the following two and being the main keeper again in the last season, in Serie B. He played also for Cagliari, Padova and Atalanta.
Malizia was a very good, consistent and acrobatic goalkeeper, who could make spectacular saves thanks to his agility and great reaction. He was effective on both high and low shots. He had a strong body but he could still make nice sprints to stop the coming attacker in 1-on-1 situations.
