Frosio was a sweeper or centre back. He spent the majority of his career at Perugia, playing 339 matches and scoring 8 goals from 1974 to 1984, being the team captain for eight seasons. He played also for Pro Sesto, Legnano, Rovereto, Cesena and Rimini.
Frosio was the leader of the defence. He had very few rivals in terms of determination and positional sense. His timing of reaction seemed to be more effective rather than the pure defensive ability, since he used to commit many fauls and cause penalties. After recovering the ball, he proved to be efficient at setting up the action, showing good teamwork. His general passing ability was good but he mostly exchanged short passes while advancing, even near the opposing area. He was capable to push forward not only centrally but also moving on the flanks. He was quite slow, even though he could make decent sprints. His general technique wasn't bad since he had a fine dribbling ability and occasionally scored in spectacular ways like bicycles. He was though mostly effective with headers.
