Chinaglia was a centre forward. He's a legend of Lazio, where he scored 122 goals in 246 matches, winning the 1973-74 Serie A. After leaving the Biancocelesti, he played for New York Cosmos from 1976 to 1985, scoring 231 times in 234 games. He played also for Swansea City, Massese and Internapoli. He gained 14 caps for Italy, scoring 4 goals.
Chinaglia was a tall and strong striker, very effective inside the box. He was very reactive and aggressive in front of the goal, a great header with good leap, could score from difficult position or with volleys and had a powerful shot. He had good ball control, dribbling ability and solid speed for a man of his size. Despite being an old school centre forward, he had a fine passing ability. He was right-footed but could use the left foot as well and was an able penalty taker. He had in general a very good form, having missed not a single Serie A match between 1972 and 1975.
