INFO:
Caneo is a former defensive or central midfielder. His career started in 1974 at Thiesi. He signed for Roma two years later he but he never debuted. From 1977 to 1984, he played for for Prato, Parma, Genoa, Palermo and Perugia. He eventually transferred to Pisa where he had his best time, making 150 appearances and scoring 9 goals in four seasons. He retired two years later after a spell at Cosenza.
A key player in Pisa's midfield during the second half of the 1980s, Caneo was primarily a defensive player whose main task was covering the back-line in order to hold the opponents' attacks and stop their playmaker. However, he himself occasionally acted as additional forward by joining the attack and scoring some goals. He was gifted with good speed and timing of reaction that helped him to recover balls and to make late runs to the opposition's box. He also possessed a solid passing ability and decent technical skill.
