Camplone was a right back who mostly played in Pescara: 188 matches from 1984 to 1992 in both Serie A and Serie B. He then played for Perugia, Ancona and Gubbio. He retired in 1999.
Camplone was a very balanced player, equally good in defence as much as he was in attack. Gifted with good speed, he made a lot of pressing but he also pushed forward and cut inside the opponents penalty area during corners or free kicks, trying to take advantage of his good aerial abilities. However he scored only once during his career in Pescara.
