Attack / Defence Awareness Card: Attack MindedINFO:Nicolae Ungureanu is former Romanian defender. Although a right footed player, he played mainly on the left side as attacking left back. He was very offensive minded and was famous for his runs through the left flank, Nicolae was very fast with good dribbling and solid passing range, even had secent shooting. Ungureanu began his career in the youth team of CSS Craiova and moved at the age of 18 years, Electro putere Craiova, which played into the second-rate Divizia B. There was the local rivals Universitatea Craiova noticed him and took him under contract in 1977. At University of Craiova, he experienced the most successful period the club: He won there in 1980 and 1981, the Romanian Cup and in the years 1978, 1981 and 1983, the Romanian Cup. He reached the European Cup in 1982/83 season the semifinals of the UEFA Cup where the team was eliminated on away goals rule only against Benfica. In 1987 he left and joined Steaua Bucharest, Craiova, then one of the best clubs in Europe. At Steaua two championships followed in 1988 and 1989 and reaching the finals in the European Champions Cup 1988/89, which was lost to AC Milan. Ungureanu left Steaua in 1992 and moved to local rivals Rapid Bucharest, where he finished his career in 1993. Ungureanu played 57 games for the Romanian national football team, scoring one goal. He made his debut on 8 April 1981 against Israel. Coach Mircea Lucescu him nominated for the European Football Championship 1984 in France and placed it in all three games, one over the full distance. After just missing out on qualification for Euro 1988 he began the new coach Emerich Jenei only three more times and finally abandoned entirely to him. After his retirement in 1993 he took over the post of head coach at FC Drobeta Turnu Severin, who at that time played in the Divizia B. Beginning April 1994, he undertook Electro putere Craiova, which he saved from relegation from the Divizia A. After a poor start to the 1994/95 season he had to go back. In 1995, Electro putere brought him back to meet the re-emergence in the Divizia A. The target was not achieved much and changed again in 1996 after Ungureanu Turnu Severin, who played in the Divizia C. Since the target was missed in second ascent in short supply, Ungureanu had left the club again. In 1997, Ungureanu made a break first as coach and became head of the youth center of Universitatea Craiova, in the rest of the season, he also oversaw the youth team of the club. During the 1998/99 season Ungureanu took over as coach for the third time in Turnu Severin, which is now played in the Divizia B. In 1999 he was given the opportunity to work under new coach Emil Săndoi at Universitatea Craiova. After his move to vice president in 2000, Ungureanu took over the junior team, but jumped in the rest of the season as a head coach. He succeeded with the 8th Place the most successful season in recent years and the qualification for the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Despite his success, his contract was not renewed at Universitatea Craiova and Pitesti Internaţional Ungureanu took over in the Divizia as early as two years, he had to leave Pitesti in 2003. In 2004 he took over FC Caracal (also Divizia B) and twice led him to the league. From the 17th April 2006 was Ungureanu worked for the last seven games of the season 2005/06 for the gambling in the club Pandurii Targu Jiu Divizia A, which he headed as successor by Viorel Hizo the league. He then became assistant coach of Ovidiu Stinga at Universitatea Craiova, with the club he left in September 2006, however, again. FC Caracal finished the season in seventh place his squadron, started in the following season, however, with two draws and eight defeats. Ungureanu then dissolved on 24 October 2007 his contract on and was replaced by former coach of Universitatea Craiova, Florin Cioroianu. In September 2008, he co-Coach of Ştefan Stoica at Internaţional Arges Monastery, with the end of season promotion to the Liga 1 succeeded. In July 2009, Ungureanu was the release of his club to get started as a technical director at Universitatea Craiova.
