INFO:
Tacconi is a former goalkeeper. He spent the majority of his career at Juventus, making 382 appearances from 1983 to 1992. He capped for Italy 7 times during this period. The Bianconeri signed him from Avellino, where he made himself noticed troughout three seasons, playing 105 matches. He played also for Pro Patria, Livorno, Sambenedettese and Genoa, where he retired in 1994.
Tacconi had a lively attitude. He was reliable and consistent but exalted himself too much in the most crucial matches. Despite having a tall and well built physique, he was incredibly athletic and skilled between the posts. He could make great leaps or dives to reach difficult balls or long range shots. He was particularly confident one-on-one, effective at closing the space to the incoming attacker. He was less efficient when coming off the goal to catch a cross and had troubles at stopping headers as he most of the times didn't try moving to reach the ball. He had a powerful goal kick and was capable to stop the ball with the feet but in terms of using them to play the ball he wasn't good at all and suffered for the new rule that forbade goalkeepers to use the hands to catch a voluntary back pass.
