INFO:

Jan Bartram is a former Danish international. He was a good player but had a very tumultuous club career full of ups and downs, winning two league titles (one with AGF and one with Brøndby) but he also had a difficult personality and didn't love football very much. Bartram was mostly known for having a fantastic left foot, he was an excellent set piece specialist and produced deadly corners and crosses from free kicks; he could also whip in great crosses from open play too. He played a mixture of positions, he mostly played in the middle for Bayer Uerdingen but played as SMF too, and for Denmark he split his time between CMF and also as left sided wing back or full back. At Rangers he didn't fit in because manager Graeme Souness wanted him to play as a defensively focused, hard tackling SB which didn't suit Bartram's strengths or preferences which he made known to the public. Nevertheless he scored a famous goal against Celtic in his short time at the club. Bartram had a strong engine and good pace for his height but he was never a very committed player, which led to him being fired from Bayer Uerdingen for being late for training; he also took a year off to go on a world tour in 1992. He had a pretty good career with Denmark with whom he won 32 caps and scored 5 goals, in particular he absolutely tore apart Greece in a 7-1 victory in 1989, grabbing a goal and three assists from the left back position. Unfortunately his Denmark career came right in between the nation's two most famous generations: the "Danish Dynamite" team of the mid 80s and the 1992 Euro winning team. As such, he never played a single minute at an international tournament despite being a regular in the team for a few years. Overall, a talented player that should have achieved more in his career.
