Troels Rasmussen was a Danish goalkeeper, best known for representing the national team during the 80s as part of their legendary "Danish Dynamite" squad. Rasmussen was the goalkeeper during Denmark's famous 6-1 win over Uruguay at the 86 World Cup. Rasmussen was a huge presence in goal with great size and coverage, he was strong on close range shots and usually well positioned. He could also command his area pretty well since he was almost always the largest person in the box. Unfortunately, he had difficulty handling pressure during big matches and he was dropped in both the 86 World Cup and Euro 88 after making some errors, he always had trouble catching the ball and often misjudged it on crosses, often jumping for them and completely missing. He looked completely unconfident in these matches, even despite sometimes still making great saves (including saving a penalty against Spain at Euro 88). Actually, he was usually a very solid goalkeeper and known for his consistency, he played 237 consecutive league matches between 1982 and 1990 and also has the best average of goals conceded of any Danish national team goalkeeper. He won the league with AGF in 1986 and the Danish Cup three times. He also scored 5 goals for AGF from penalties. Overall, a good goalkeeper whose reputation was harmed by some mistakes in the biggest moments.
