INFO:
Donà is a former central midfielder. His career began in 1979 at Treviso. The following season, he played in Serie B for Varese. His good performances made Milan decide to bet on him. Unfortunately, he played only 2 matches in Coppa Italia (the main reason was an escapade to meet his girlfriend) and ultimately, he was sold to Vicenza in Serie C1. He had two very good seasons with the Lanerossi and one with Bologna, respectively playing 60 and 39 matches, scoring 8 and 5 goals in all competitions. He then had the chance to play again in Serie A, this time for Hellas Verona in the glorious 1984-85 season. He had to be a reserve for the likes of Luigi Sacchetti and Domenico Volpati. He played 12 games − most of the times coming in as substitute − scoring once in Coppa Italia. He then played for Catanzaro, Reggiana and Ancona among others.
Donà was the typical player who could do well in minor leagues but struggled in Serie A. He considered himself technically gifted but mediocre due mainly to a lack of will. During his time at Vicenza and Bologna, he was the kind of midfielder who preferred joining the attack rather than defending. He possessed good speed and liked to start a personal offense from the back and shoot on goal. Otherwise he ran towards the opposing box, waiting for a teammate to deliver him a long ball. He was effective with first time shots or difficult ones but less in favourable positions or in front of the goalkeeper.
