INFO:
Buriani is a former central or defensive or midfielder. He had his best time at Milan, making 180 appearancs from 1977 to 1982, scoring 14 goals and winning the 1978-79 Serie A. He immediately became a fan favourite on November 6, 1977 when he scored two goals in a 3-1 win against Inter. His Serie A experience ended when he was only 31: during his time at Napoli, he got injured after a bad foul committed by Inter's Andrea Mandorlini and Buriani's contract was terminated six months later. He played also for Monza, Cesena, Roma and Spal in Serie C, retiring in 1988. He capped for Italy twice in 1980.
Buriani was a consistent, dynamic and competitive midfielder, who ran throughout the entire game thanks to his outstanding stamina. He wore the jerseys n°7, 11 and occasionally 10 despite his position likely because he often joined the attack. He was the kind of player who added intensity and continuity to Milan's offense. He was regarded at the time as one of the best Italian players to move without the ball, showing teamwork, good ball interception ability, fine passing, great spirit of sacrifice and natural sense of position. He wasn't very stylish but possessed great technique and was accurate with both feet. He had a fine and powerful shot but was mainly an able penalty taker as 8 of his 14 goals for Milan goal were penalties.
