INFO:
Di Gennaro is a former midfielder, mainly playmaker but also central or defensive midfielder. He spent most of his career at Hellas Verona, playing 258 matches and scoring 34 goals from 1981 to 1988. He played also for Fiorentina, Perugia, Bari and Barletta, retiring in 1992. He gained 15 caps for Italy, scored 4 times and participated at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest players in the history of Hellas Verona, Di Gennaro was the kind of modern and versatile midfielder who had lot of energy and was capable to either attack and defend, recover the ball and then take it forward, pass it with outstanding accuracy or look to score and could both things with both feet. He was a superb playmaker, curt, incisive, darting, gifted with very good technique and a powerful unpredictable long range shot. He wasn't too fast but could go up and down the field with good sprints: he could be seen in his own box, defending and stopping the opponents, but after a bunch of seconds he was in the opposing field zone, attacking and shooting. He could use also the head and was a fine free kick and penalty taker.
