BalancedINFO:Campolo was a midfielder, mostly center or defensive, who started his career at Reggina in 1990. Fiorentina bought him in 1993 hoping to have found the new Roberto Baggio. He was technically good and, like Maradona, he was short and not thin. He was so nicknamed
Maradona of the Sila. However he only played 20 matches in two seasons, one in Serie B and one in Serie A, with no goals scored and he was sold to Pistoiese. Here he played one season in Serie B and one in Serie C1 before playing a half season at Giulianova and a half at Ancona. He came back to Serie A in 1999 when he was bought by Perugia but here again he didn't play much, only 23 matches and no goals scored. He played half of the 2000-01 season at Catania in Serie C1 before joining Messina. In the Sicilian team he played 79 matches and scored 4 goals from 2001 to 2004, contributing as team captain to the historical promotion of Messina from Serie B to Serie A in 2003-04. He ended his career in 2005 after a season in Serie B with Catanzaro.
