The second great player from Penev family, the nephew of Dimitar Penev. Lubo was attacker with great defensive commitment, very strong and good in the air, with good technique and could make a solid pass, pretty mobile despite the giant size. Born on August 31, 1966 in Dobrich. Penev was a teenager, when in CSKA debuted in professional football in 1984 when he was only 18 years. CSKA in the late 80's is the place to develop a lot of players have achieved fourth place at the World Cup in 1994 Luboslav Penev is a CSKA teammate Trifon Ivanov, Emil Kostadinov, Hristo Stoichkov. With CSKA Penev won the championship twice (1987 and 1989) and Bulgaria's Cup three times (1987, 1988 and 1989). In 1989, only 23 years old, became a player on the Spanish giants Valencia. Elected best player of Bulgaria in 1988. There are 62 matches and 13 goals for the national team. In 1989 he moved into the Spanish La Liga. In Penev played for Spain: Valencia, Atletico Madrid, SD Compostela and Celta Vigo. At his strong performance in Spain during the 1995-1996 season with Atlético, when the club became champion and won the Spanish Cup. Penev was the best scorer of the team scoring 22 goals in 44 games. Sample participate in the formulation of the national team EURO'96 in England and the World in 1998 in France. At the Euro 1996 in England in the match against France on preliminary groups Penev scored an own goal. At the end of World Cup qualifiers for the championship in 1998 in France, Penev received amnesty and returned to the representative team of Bulgaria. He could not take part in the 1994 World Cup with probably the best Bulgarian squad of all time as he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in the beginning of 1994. n March 2009, he succeeded his uncle Dimitar Penev as manager of CSKA Sofia and under his guidance the team qualified for the group stages of the UEFA Europa League, after defeating FC Dynamo Moscow - 2:1 aggregate. On 6 November 2009, he resigned, after a 1:3 loss to Swiss side FC Basel due to a conflict with the club's owners. This lend a bad influence on the players and CSKA finished 4th in a group with AS Roma, FC Basel and Fulham FC. CSKA won his single point in the opening game against future finalist Fulham (1:1 after a good strike of Michel Platini and a bad mistake of CSKA's goalie Ivan Karadzhov). However, his resignation was not accepted. Fans wanted him back and he decided to stay. The club was leader in the Bulgarian championship before the last round, when Litex Lovech took the leadership. On 13 January 2010, after another clash with the owners, he was fired. The fans of CSKA still consider this as the biggest mistake of the club bosses. They will remembered him as a person, who likes discipline. After the lost game against Minyor Pernik he Withdrawed nine players from training session for breaking club's rules. And this was the reason for the conflict with the owners. During the summer many rumours connected him with a transfer to a Spanish clubs (mainly form Liga Adelante, but from Liga BBVA sides too!), but he remained free agent. Now he is a head coach at current champions Litex Lovech and his team is a leader in the championship.

Stop the PSD copycats...
