INFO:Gelsi is a former central, defensive and side midfielder. A legend of Pescara, he played 333 matches and scored 49 goals for the
Biancazzurri in two spells, the first from 1989 to 1992, the second from 1994 to 2000. He played also for Fiorentina, Parma, Perugia, Udinese, Ravenna, Livorno, Lucchese, Arezzo and Mantova. He retired in 2006.
The metronome of Pescara for many years, Gelsi was efficient in both defence and attack. He managed ─ as he mentioned in an interview ─ to stop efficiently Diego Maradona in 1-1 draw against Napoli during his time at Fiorentina. He moved mainly through the centre and wasn't very fast but was still devastating when attacking thanks to a thunderous and accurate right-footed shot from long range. He was also a very able piece taker. He scored numerous free kicks and penalties. Only in the 1998-99 season, he scored 11 penalty kicks. He sometimes showed also a decent passing ability.
