Fahad Al-Ghesheyan was one of the most talented Saudi players, probably even their 2nd best dribbler after Al-Thunayan, and the first Saudi footballer to play in Europe. He was absolutely electric with the ball, almost unstoppable when he was in the mood, terrorizing every left back he faced. And not just in the Saudi league, but also against strong international opponents such as Sweden, Denmark and Chile, he scored a great goal against the Swedes at the 94 World Cup. Unfortunately he was also known for his lack of professionalism and his inconsistency, which lead to conflicts with management. And he wasn't a team player at all, he could occasionally play some nice short passes but he preferred to dribble past 5 players instead of taking the easy option. He was difficult to catch but if you touched him once, then he would fall over. He scored some great goals, both solo dribbles and some impressive shots, but wasn't always efficient in front of goal. If he could add some more end product to match his incredible dribbling ability, he wouldn't have just been one of the best Saudi players, but one of the best Asian players of all time. After some inevitable arguments with Al-Hilal's management, he was transferred to AZ in the Netherlands, becoming the first Saudi player in Europe, but he didn't last long since their manager Van Hanegem believed he couldn't play in a team and that he had zero tactical or professional discipline. He was then transferred back to Saudi Arabia, but this time for Al-Hilal's eternal rivals Al-Nassr. Depressed that he couldn't play for his boyhood club, he soon retired from football at the age of only 27. Probably the biggest waste of talent in Saudi history, but the good times he had were always remembered.
