INFO:
Buonocore is a former secondary striker or attacking midfielder. Grown up at Napoli, he never debuted in the first team even though he was compared to Diego Maradona. He's mostly renowned for his time at Ravenna, where he played from 1991 to 1994, from 1995 to 1998 and in 2003, for a total of 156 matches and 24 goals and helping the team reaching their first ever promotion to Serie B. He did the same at Messina, where he played 72 games, scoring 6 goals, from 2000 to 2003. He played also for Cosenza, Venezia, Ternana, Frosinone and Ancona among others. He retired in 2012 after several seasons in lower leagues.
Nicknamed "Sommo poeta", Buonocore didn't like the easy plays, preferring instead the hard and funambolic ones. Very agile fast on the ball, he showed numerous tricks and creativity with the left foot. He could dribble his opponents with ease and looking to score or act as playmaker and deliver accurate passes to his teammates. He was also a good free kick taker. Messina's supporters remember him especially for a goal he scored against Ternana, where he delivered an unstoppable shot on the top corner, and one against Palermo after dribbling the entire defence. Apparently, even Atlético de Madrid was interested in him at some point.
