Dugarry is a former centre forward, often used a winger and capable also as secondary striker. He spent most his career at Bordeaux, where he played from 1988 to 1996 and from 1999 to 2003 for a total of 324 matches and 63 goals. He played also for Milan, Barcelona, Olympique de Marseille and Birmingham City and Qatar SC with no much success, before retiring in 2005. He gained 55 caps for France, scoring 8 goals and taking part to the 1996 and 2000 UEFA Euro, the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cup, the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Dugarry was a tall and strong striker, gifted with good pace, technique, dribbling, accuracy with both feet and the outside. Unselfish and versatile, he adapted himself to any formation system and delivered numerous assists thanks to a fine passing ability and could create space for his teammates with his movements. Very capable with the head, he was a threat inside the box. On the other hand, he lacked of consistency and efficiency in front of the goalkeeper. This characteristic accompanied him for his entire career.
