INFO:Bertotto was a defender, mainly centre and right back but sometimes used on the left. He spent almost his entire career at Udinese, playing 404 matches and scoring 7 goals from 1993 to 2006. He captained the team for seven seasons from 1999 to 2006. He played also for Alessandria, Siena and Venezia, retiring in 2009. He gained 4 caps for Italy in the biennium 2000-2001 and was near to be called-up for the 2002 FIFA World Cup but a knee injury in the 2001-02 season took that chance off.
Bertotto was a good defender, not very strong nor too agile but gifted with very good at intercepting the ball and
had remarkable defensive abilities. He had good speed with the ball on his feet and occasionally pushed forward. He was effective at setting up the action with either short or long passes, both usually accurate and fast. He rarely went past the midfield and never scored more than once in a season. He scored though a great goal with a lob from a long distance in a 4-0 win against Bari in the 1998-99 season.
