Hani Moustafa was one of the most prominent football players in Egypt during the 1960s and 1970s. His talent emerged early, leading him to join Al Ahly SC's youth academy, where he shined quickly until he was promoted to the first team at the age of 18. Hani began his career as a right winger before transitioning into a left-back and a center-back. He was known for his physical agility and tactical skills, making him a key pillar for the Egyptian national team for nine years, during which he played more than 40 international matches. He also had the honor of representing the continent of Africa in the Independence Cup in Brazil in 1972.In a patriotic and historic gesture following the 1967 war, he was loaned to Ismaily SC, contributing significantly to leading them to win the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1969, securing the first continental title in the history of Egyptian clubs. Throughout his illustrious career, he won the Footballer of the Year award in Egypt in 1971 and ranked fourth for the African Footballer of the Year in 1974 according to "France Football" magazine, before announcing his final retirement from playing in 1976.Hany did not stay away from the beautiful game; instead, he refined his talent through studies in Germany. He returned as a highly capable manager, leading the Egyptian U-20 national team to the quarter-finals of the World Youth Championship in Australia in 1981, alongside his roles as the general coach for the senior national team and director of football at Al Ahly. He passed away in May 2023, leaving behind an immortal football legacy.
