INFO :
Manuel Pessanha, better known as Lelé, was a Brazilian footballer who played as a striker. He possessed the characteristics of a midfielder, capable of playing on both the right and left wing. He was born at Madureira, and along with Isaías and Jair Rosa Pinto, he formed an attacking trio nicknamed "The Three Stooges." However, after Vasco's restructuring in 1943 by coach Ondino Vieira, the three joined Vasco. He possessed a veritable firecracker with his right foot, which terrified opposing goalkeepers. He quickly became a Vasco idol in the early days of the Expresso da Vitória, being the top scorer in the 1945 Rio de Janeiro state championship, which Vasco won undefeated. He also won the 1947 Rio de Janeiro state championship and the 1948 South American club championship, both undefeated. He earned the nickname "Cannon of the Hill." He scored 157 goals in 212 games, making him the ninth highest scorer in Vasco's history. As a winger, he was somewhat slow, which inevitably led to his performance leaning more toward a violent play against his markers, given his natural physical strength. As a midfielder, this strength brought a dynamic play between defense and attack, acting as a link between defense and attack, and he was described as an intelligent and tireless force behind his attack. At times, he turned into an opportunistic striker with a powerful right-footed shot that often caught goalkeepers unfamiliar with his form by surprise.
