INFO : Waldemar de Brito was a Brazilian soccer player who played as a center forward, winger, and attacking midfielder. He stood out on the national scene between the 1930s and 1940s, playing for clubs such as São Paulo, Botafogo, Flamengo, and Palmeiras, in addition to having represented the Brazilian national team in the 1934 World Cup. He played both as a center forward, finishing plays, and as a winger, participating in the build-up play. He was recognized as one of the best dribblers of the 1930s, capable of easily outwitting opponents. He scored many goals throughout his career, being São Paulo FC's top scorer in the 1933 São Paulo State Championship with 21 goals. He was known for his tenacity and determination on the field, always seeking the goal and the victory. Later in his career, when he stopped dribbling a bit, Waldemar was described as the brain who guided the plays with clairvoyance, always with accurate passes. He inspired his teammates to score by drawing the attention of defenders, which helped his attacking teammates better position themselves to receive passes and finish. After retiring as a player, Waldemar de Brito became a coach and introduced the young Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé) to football, bringing him to Santos.
