He was the first Yugoslav national team player to play 10 matches in the first decade of his career and, without a doubt, one of our best players. However, his biography, both sporting and personal, will probably never be complete for various reasons. It is known that he was of Slovak origin and that he later dedicated himself to journalism and sports history, but many important details remain unconfirmed, despite his being one of the first stars and professionals of football in the former Yugoslavia.
After the First World War, it is said that he was not allowed to return to Yugoslavia because he had deserted during the war. Therefore, in 1919, he applied to join 1er HŠK Građanski in Vienna. The documents were submitted by Gabi Feldbauer, a member of the club's board, and thanks to the considerable influence of the then-powerful leaders, he was pardoned and returned to Zagreb. He participated in the first match of the then Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games. Later, thanks to the help of Jovan Ružić of SK Yugoslavia in Belgrade, who spoke the language, he traveled to France and, with a monthly salary of 3,000 francs, played for Paris FC Généraux. Later, the influential Viennese coach David Weiss brought him back to Zagreb.
For most of his career, during which he demonstrated an exceptionally high level of football, he wore the jersey of 1. HŠK Građanski Zagreb, with whom he won three national championships (1923, 1926, and 1928). He played 14 matches for the Yugoslav national team (1920–1927) and scored two goals. He made his debut on August 28, 1920 against Czechoslovakia (0-7) in the Antwerp Olympic tournament, and wore the national jersey for the last time on July 31, 1928, also against Czechoslovakia (1-1) in Belgrade, where he scored the only goal for the "White Eagles".
Dobru tehniku.
