As an employee of PTT, he lived for a time in Borovo and played for SK Bata. When he returned to Zagreb in 1934 and donned the blue jersey once again, he first played as a center forward and, from 1936 onwards, as a left winger, a position in which he reached the peak of his career. Wearing the Građanski jersey, he won national titles in the 1936–37 and 1939–40 seasons, playing in virtually every position on the team (in 1938, he even replaced goalkeeper Franjo Glazer). In 1943, also with Građanski, he won the Croatian Championship. Due to serious injuries sustained after World War II, he stopped playing soccer. In addition to eleven games with the Zagreb team (1934-1939), he played one game with the Yugoslavia B team (1937) and eight with the Yugoslavia national team (1937-1939), scoring one goal. He made his debut on August 1, 1937, in a friendly match against Turkey (3-1) in Belgrade, and said goodbye to the national team on October 15, 1939, against Germany (1-5) in Zagreb, where he scored his only international goal. Between 1941 and 1943, he played 10 games for the Croatian national team and scored three goals. Spoiler: show Spoiler: show Spoiler: show |
