Nguyen Trong Giap (10/03/1948) was a Vietnamese football player. In 1966, he was recruited to the The Cong youth team and in 1970 played for the Vietnamese team to play against Cuba in Hanoi. Then the team went to compete in Cuba and China.

It can be said that in North Vietnam football during the 1966-1974 period, no one could surpass Nguyen Trong Giap as a central defender. In addition to the qualities that all excellent players have, including technique and physical strength, Mr. Giap is better than many people in the way he plays football with his mind. He successfully demonstrated this playing style during his time as a player of the The Cong youth team (1966), then he had a year of training in the North Korea (1968) and four months of training in Hungary (1969). With a height of 1.78m - outstanding among Vietnamese players at that time - along with a smart, modern playing style, he was the leader of The Cong defense and Vietnamese national team.
