Pham Huynh Tam Lang (February 14, 1942 - June 2, 2014) was a football player of the Republic of Vietnam national football team, head coach of Saigon Port Football Club and the Vietnam national team[1]. Pham Huynh Tam Lang is considered one of the outstanding defender in the history of Vietnamese and Asian football.

In 1964, when the South Vietnamese team won 2-0 against the Israeli National Team in the Tokyo Olympics qualifying round, the Saigon press wrote about this match as well as him personally as follows: "In addition to goalkeeper Pham Van Rang was very good, defender Tam Lang also played extremely outstandingly. He shut down Israeli striker Peled, causing him to disappear on the field, then had to change positions with left wing Young. But also Young can't beat Tam Lang's amazing tackles."

in 1966, he and his teammates created a miracle by winning the Merdeka Cup championship in Kuala Lumpur (the tournament included Japan, South Korea, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Burma, Singapore, etc.) - a famous tournament established in 1957 to celebrate Malaysia's national day. One year later, he and Do Thoi Vinh were invited to play for the Asian All-Stars team.

Forte with the position of central defender, he is considered as a central back with the most beautiful and effective tackles in Vietnamese football. The tackles are labeled Pham Huynh Tam Lang, as a guarantee of his talent. The nickname "Gold Arrow" came from the fact that he often held the ball up and ran towards the opponent's goal with fierce speed even though he was a defender.
