Jimmy Bullard and Ben Watson would be better choices for the first team than Nzogbia and Maloney imo. Also for the formation, McCarthy is a central midfielder and Nzogbia was a winger. I’d use a 4-3-3 formation with McCarthy, McArthur and Gómez as the three central midfielders and Rodallega on the left wing, Lyon as the CF and Valencia on the right.

I'd put De Zeeuw in the first team. I think that fans even named him as their greatest ever player.

Changes made with de Zeeuw instead of Alcaraz in both first squad and best XI plus McManaman − there are too many right wingers − replaced by Bert Llewellyn who was a legend in the 60s and is the second top scorer − he even scored 57 goals in 57 games in his first season. Also replaced Scharner and Figueroa in the best XI with the legendary centre back Gillibrand who is the player with most appearances and Baines for obvious reasons.
