INFO:Kyungsung FC was founded in 1933 and changed name to Seoul FC in 1946. Following a hiatus from 1950 to 1953 due to the Korean War, Seoul FC became one of many teams of the football section of the national Army in 1955. Its name was changed into Counter Intelligence Corps FC. The other main teams were: Office of the Provost Marshall General, Engineer Corps, Headquarters of Intelligence Detachment, Infantry School, Quartermaster Corps, Marine Corps and Air Force. In 1965, Engineer Corps absorbed most of the other teams. Only Quartermaster Corps, Marine Corps and Air Force continued their activities as separated units. In 1969, Engineer Corps and Quartermaster Corps merged to create Army FC. This new team alongside Air Force and Marine Corps (this team changed name to Navy FC in 1973) existed until 1983, year of foundation of the South Korean professional football league. One year later, these three teams merged into Sangmu FC.
During the semi-professional league years, from 1964 to 1982, Army FC and Marine Corps/Navy FC were the most successful teams, winning three titles each. Quartermaster Corps and Air Force won the tournament one time.
Before the creation of the semi-professional league, a tournament was played that merged with Korean FA Cup in 2000. This tournament was called All Joseon Football Tournament from 1921 to 1940 and Korean National Football Championship from 1946 to 2000. It served as national cup during the existence of the semi-professional league. Its status was undermined following the establishing of the Korean Football League. Army FC won the tournament four times, Quartermaster Corps won it three times, Counter Intelligence Corps won it two times, Office of the Provost Marshall General and Navy FC won it once. The team also has one title under the name Sangmu FC but this one came in 1996 when the tournament barely had any importance.
The team had a period of renaissance during the 2010s under the name Sangju Sangmu, reaching the Korean FA Cup semi-final in 2014 and 2019, and playing in the K League from 2016 to 2020. Gimcheon Sangmu's last season in the top tier was the 2022.
