INFO:Technically limited but hard enough on the man and solid in one against one, Courbis was a player who's his curly hair inspired terror in opposing attackers. Very temperamental libero and central defender with good anticipation, excellent heading, speed, muscular interventions, good positioning and strong in jumps. Always seeking to stay at the edge of the regulatory. Smarter than truly aggressive, he used to set the tone from the beginning of the match by strategically "drying" the opposing attackers. Once he had curbed the enthusiasm of the opposing camp, Courbis only had to play a game - manly but cleaner for the rest of the game.
A Marseille born, pupil of youth team of "OM", he fulfilled his dream to play with them, however failed to become a full-fledged player of the main team of Marseille and, having played three games for it in the 1971/72 season, he moved to Ajaccio, where he was already a player of the main team. In 1973 he moved to Greece with a lucrative stint at Olympiacos. At the time, in Greece, ruled by a military junta, foreign players were banned. Unless you have a Greek ancestor. Courbis goes back five generations, does not find any and invents an Alexandre Courbis, who lived around 1800 around Thessaloniki. Liar? Yes, but not alone. "Besides, it was funny because there was a Uruguayan midfielder named Vieira who had the same great-grandfather as me in the same region" In the victorious season for the team 1973/74, he took part in only four games of the Greek championship, after which he returned to his homeland, where his new club was Sochaux, playing 3 years there. The peak of Courbis' playing career was the period from 1977–1982, during which he was a stable main player for Monaco, a team that had won the French championship twice over the years and one French Cup. He finished his playing career at Toulon, for which he played from 1982 to 1985.
He was an international with the France national football team, being invited in one international match, versus Poland in 1976, however did not come into play.
