A right footed left back, who uses left very well. Decent speed with a very good technique. More defensive but would often pass unseen in front of the opponent's goal.

The former Belenenses left back defender arrived at FC Porto in 1974, after becoming runner-up with Belenenses in 1973. A two-time national champion with FC Porto in 77/78 and 78/79, and winner of a Portuguese Cup. Murça was the left-back of Pedroto's famous team that ensured FC Porto's return to titles after 19 years of starvation, and also participated in the famous tie against Manchester United when FC Porto crushed the English in Antas (4-0) having then lost at Old Trafford 5-2.

He was also capped for Portugal five times, four on behalf of FC Porto and once for Belenenses.
