INFO:He has the distinction of having evolved as a striker in the three most prestigious clubs in Brussels. His famous left foot was the nightmare of Belgian goalkeepers during the Seventies. Attacking from the wing, Teugels was a player with the hard shot and great finishing.
Until 1966 he played football in the youth section of Anderlecht before making his debut in the A-team. Teugels was 20 years old when he belonged to the A-team. He had to compete with big names such as Jan Mulder, Paul Van Himst, Johan Devrindt and Wilfried Puis. At the end he saw how RSC Anderlecht won the national title. Despite the success Anderlecht achieved, Teugels decided to look for other places. The striker stayed in Brussels and made the transfer to Union Royale Saint-Gilloise. There he turned out to be a fixture in the attack. He would defend the Union colours until 1971 before moving to Racing White. There he also became a permanent fixture and stood out as a goal-getter. In the 1971-72 season he finished in second place in the top scorers list, together with Jan Mulder and Rob Rensenbrink .
In 1973 Racing White changed names and became known as RWDM. There were a lot of changes in the squad and Teugels didn't score a single time in the league, despite 27 games that season. A year later, together with Maurice Martens and Johan Boskamp, he became one of the leaders of RWDM, which became national champion at the end of the season. Teugels scored 19 times in 1974-75. With a goal with his left foot against Anderlecht, Teugels ensured a victory that definitively knocked the Purple & White out of the title race and led RWDM to the title. In the end, Teugels played four seasons for RWDM and with them he reached the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup. In 1977, Teugels left the club and moved to La Louvière in Wallonia. The then 31-year-old striker played there for two seasons. In 1979 he ended his career as a professional football player.
Teugels was selected 13 times for the Belgium national team. He scored once in his international matches. In 1972 , after a strong season with Racing White, national coach Raymond Goethals allowed him to participate in the European Championship '72 in Belgium. The Red Devils would eventually finish third in that tournament.
