INFO:
They gave him the nickname Stork as a footballer. There is no need to ask why he was called that. All you need to do is take a look at his long legs. In the 70s, he ran up and down the sidelines with them – always with a big gear ratio. "I was an attacking left-back, a bit like Marcelo today. I know that's a bit of a presumptuous comparison," smiles Fischbach. A bit slower, offensive, good strong header and solid jump but very very low dribble speed overall. Limited on the ball, but a great tackler, he tormented Channon in the game vs England.

Fischbach played as a junior for FC Wohlen and FC Aarau, where he also made the leap to the 1st team. From 1969 he played for FC Wettingen in the Nationalliga A, where he was a regular player in their relegation season. In 1972 he moved from Wettingen to FC Grenchen, where he stayed for one season and then moved on to FC Winterthur. At the end of his time in Winterthur, he was called up for the Swiss national team for the first time on 30 April 1974. After 52 games and 3 goals in Winterthur, he moved to cantonal rivals FC Zurich. Fischbach won the double with FCZ in 1976 and reached the European Cup semi-finals the following season. After three years, he ended his playing career after a disagreement with coach Zlatko "Chik" Čajkovski.

The left-back from Villmergen in Aargau played 13 times for the national team and was even called up once for a world team.
