The club was founded in 1904 as Football Club Malinois and ended in 1906 with the UBSSA. In 1907 the club played in the provincial preliminaries of the First Division, but failed in it for that series, today the Second Division, to place. From 1909 the club was still taking office in the First Division, the second national level. FC Malinois worked his way there soon on the second tier, but stranded there in 1912 as well as 1913 third place, and grabbed as each next promotion. In 1921 it was still touch: FC Malinois finished second in its series and so promoted for the first time in its existence to the Ereafdeling, the highest national level. In the early years the team consisted almost exclusively of Malines students of the Catholic University of Leuven, and their time was therefore nicknamed "the Student". The stay in the highest class, the rest of the 1920s is not without difficulties expired. In 1921-1922, the first season, FC Malinois indeed signed last and relegated straight away back to the Second Division. Malinois stayed there most top drive was two seasons later as second and earned another promotion. Again, the season in the league no success, because after a last place was further immediate degradation. The next season, in 1925-1926, won Malinois are set and promoted immediately. For the third time in a row was this promotion is limited to one season: club once again fell back a level. In 1928 took Malinois after one season in the Second Division title, and so rose for the fourth time in eight years to the Honorary Division. Now the club could take several seasons to maintain the highest level. Meanwhile, in 1924 the supporters federation "Malinwa" established by special request of President Francis Dessain. The federation was an umbrella organization for the different supporters' clubs. In 1929 the club was at its 25th anniversary the title "Royal" and was RFC Malinois. Malinois played several seasons in the middle, but ended in the 1930-1931 season for the first time at the top. The team finished in second place, three points from champions Antwerp FC. The club this performance could then no longer match and remained an ordinary average performer. August Hellemans is the first player from FC Malinois who to Red Devil kicks. In the years 1940, RFC Malinois however successful: In 1942/1943 the club picked up his first league title. The second title came a few years later, in 1945/1946. In 1948 it became even third league title in six years. The following seasons Malinois could no longer battle for the highest price and the club was again an average performer. In 1952 the royal title in the club name Dutchified to "Royal", the club was now officially KFC Malinois. Malinois had a strong season in 1953-1954, where it stranded in second place, just one point of champions RSC Anderlechtois. Two seasons later, nine years after the last league title, but the team finished in the last place and had Malinois bags again to the Second Division. The club remained there for several years and was suspended in 1962 again promoted, when she claimed the title. The return of the highest class went again not easy, because immediately dropped the club back to last place. The season is increased Malinois from 1965 yet again to the highest class, where the club this time four seasons could maintain. In 1969 the club fell back again to the second class. Also in the Belgium Cup was the club in this period prices suits. Once the club took the final in 1967, but lost in extra time 3-1 to Standard Liege. The club vervlaamste in 1970 to its name and was now also officially known as KV Mechelen. Mechelen finished second in the Second Division and promoted back to the First Division. The next season the team stayed in the middle group play, and after a few times just to avoid the degradation dropped it in 1977. KV Mechelen continued in Second Class in the middle hang the coming years, the club promoted again in 1981. Mechelen was admittedly only fifth place, but had to win in the final round enough to promotion to enforce. As for so many times before in the club's history turned this first season back to nothing: Mechelen last and sank again. Like several times before also managed the club after a first failure, however, to the following year once again promoted. KV Mechelen won the Second Division title in 1983 and rose again. This time the club would again experience several successful seasons. In the mid 80's, KV Mechelen in a short time a Belgian club. A first successful year came in 1987: Mechelen was second in the national competition at only two points of RSC Anderlecht and also picked up for the first time the Belgium Cup. KV won the final 1-0 to RFC Liegeois. In 1987-1988 did the club another shot at the title, but was again second but after Club Brugge. On the European stage booked the club however great successes. With the cup profit the year before KV Mechelen played for the first European in the Cup Winners' Cup, and as a rookie suddenly bumped through to the finals. In the Stade de la Meinau Strasbourg defeated KV Mechelen as AFC Ajax 1-0. The subsequent European Supercup took the townspeople within, by that other Dutch club, PSV Eindhoven beat. In 1988-1989 it was finally hit in the Belgian league: after 40 years took KV Mechelen again the league title. In Europe if the European club cup defend the Cup Winners' Cup. Again nudged Mechelen far, but stranded this time in the semifinals at Sampdoria. Mechelen Belgium remained a topper in 1989-1990 and was third in the national competition. The European campaign in the Europa National Champions Cup ended in the quarter finals against AC Milan. In 1990-1991 ended KV Mechelen once again second in the league. Also in the Belgian Cup final played KV, but there could not be the prize to take home. The European season in the UEFA Cup that season ended after just one lap. Mechelen was some season playing in the Belgian top, with a fourth in 1992 and third in 1993. In Belgium Cup played KV again the final (1992), but lost on penalties to Antwerp FC. Yet three years the club played even European, but hit every few rounds away. KV Mechelen had the mid-80s in a short time to the national and even European summit reprocessed, but disappeared after the collapse of the financial input from John Cordier mid 90s in just a short time from the top. In 1997 finished Mechelen again as the penultimate, and so fell to the Second Division. The club took its old status of lift team again in 1999 KV promoted back to First, in 2001, followed by a new degradation and in 2002 the club was promoted once again to the highest class. In the 2002-2003 season was the club however severe financial problems. The impending deletion of the union lists could be prevented by a money collection campaign of the association '"Red KV Mechelen", "rope put on by Mark Uytterhoeven, Piet den Boer and Van Hoof Fi. Thanks to the numerous initiatives and many supporters that 1000 euro collapsed, most debts could be paid. The club relegated to the Third Division, however, and added "Yellow" to the name. Yellow-Red KV Mechelen after 2 years champion in the Third Division, which the club was again promoted to Second Class. In the 2005-2006 season went bad and KV Mechelen located only on the penultimate matchday ensure an extended stay in the Second Division. Under the guidance of new coach Peter Maes was the 2006-2007 season began with the ambition to play a role in the left column of the standings and first class tickets to the cup. The cup adventure was already an unexpected success for the second division, because after home win against Germinal Beerschot and Zulte Waregem (each 1-0) stranded the club until the quarterfinals against AA Gent. In the competition prevailed FCV Dender EH (especially in the first period), but KVM finished second in the league and could thus participate in the final round. Together with Antwerp FC, KV Kortrijk and the last first-class, Lierse SK, KVM fought a ticket for first class. On Sunday, June 10 was achieved that goal, after winning on the field of KV Kortrijk (2-3). After four years came "Malinwa" right back at the highest level: First Class. The first (small) price was not long in coming: the supporters of KV Mechelen, during the gala of the Golden Boot in 2007 voted best supporters in the country. At the end of the season 2008/2009 there was a second highlight: the team could qualify for the final of the Cup of Belgium, where it eventually lost to KRC Genk. In the 2010-2011 season, it fell just wide Play-off 1 after a busy program had to finish the match after several overtaking the harsh winter.
