Great job!

Some suggetions:

Edmundo should be in the first 23 for sure, I have no doubt about that. His identity with Vasco is huge, one of the biggest in the club.

Mazinho played as a left back in Vasco, I would put him in the 23, as Felipe is in the midfield, eventough his prime in Vasco was as lef back as well

Also, Sorato was a forward.

However, I have some disagreements regarding the 23 chosen.

1 - Alcir Portela was a Defensive Midfielder, not Defender, and I believe he should remain at 23, he is really one of the biggest idols. You can change his position with Felipe, who became Vasco's idol in the Left Side.

2 - Edmundo has to enter the 23. His representation in Vasco in the 90s was surreal. One of the protagonists of one of the club's most important titles, he has to be in the 23. It's a difficult choice to take a striker off the list, as they are all equally giants, but I would take Vavá, with a pain in my heart, but I believe that Edmundo deserves this place.

3 - There are many CB's in the 23, the only full-back there is Jorge Sacramento and Felipe (who is in midfield, which makes all defenders be defenders with an improvised full-back). I would remove Rafagnelli to put Orlando "Lelé" Pereira, who played for Vasco in the 70s.



With the changes, I would scale the team like this:



Bellini as Captain.

As the team still not having a coach, I have two suggestions: Flávio Costa or Antônio Lopes

I would take out easily Itália and Brilhante to put in two of these three options: Mazinho (left-back while in Vasco), Augusto (could play both as center and right back) and Mauro Galvão (center back).

Those three players were superior technicaly and also have a legacy in the club.

It is very strange to see Cocada listed here. He basically did only one mythological goal for Vasco in 1988 and thats it. He wasnt even a starter. It doesnt fit at all with the forum's criterias.

Actually the starter right back at Cocada's time was Paulo Roberto, the same I mentioned before in Grêmio.

After Paulo Roberto left Vasco, Luis Carlos Winck came and was great. He is considered one of the best right backs in Vasco's history.

Both (PR and LCW) are not listed here and they are way far more important for the club than Cocada who just enter at the end of the game, did a goal against Flamengo (biggest rival) in the final, receiving the red card right after this.

About the changes, I believe that the ones that draw more attention are Augusto in place of Orlando Lelé and the exit of Ely for Edmundo in a more offensive line-up.

Orlando Lelé was part of one of the most secure defenses in Vasco's history, but Augusto played more, for longer, and won tons of Campeonato Carioca, being captain in several of these victories.

I put the 4-2-2-2 formation to be able to include all of Vasco's great strikers in positions where they played. This decision of mine is questionable btw, I see no problem in keeping the original 4-3-3 lineup, although I prefer this 4-2-2-2 as it scales the best players. Juninho and Ely are a good match too, I put Juninho because of the titles he won.

@Bola Clássica what do you think about that?

I totally agree with Augusto replacing Orlando Lelé. I believe he was an overall better player and also more important to Vasco than Orlando Lelé.

Regarding put 4 attackers Im not sure, I wouldnt do that but if it is the case I would choose Dinamite to play behind the attackers, not Edmundo. Dinamite was moved back when get older to play behind a young and incredible Romário.

Also, I believe Danilo Alvim can never be out of the best XI.

My bad, I misspoke, I meant "Juninho or Ely", Alvim is for sure the unanimous choice for the midfield.
Put Roberto as SS/AMF is a great choice, I hadn't thought about that, although the formation I proposed keeps Edmundo and Roberto in their original positions. I like how the "bad boys" duo is created, with Dinamite linking up with Romário, all within the historical pattern, I totally agree. So we have this?
