Former Swiss striker, Sulser moved in 1973 from FC Mendrisio-Stabio to Vevey-Sports. On 1 January 1977 he undertook the Grasshopper-Club Zurich, where he rushed for nine years and four-time national champion. He then moved to FC Lugano, to finish his career in the Ticino home. As a center forward, scored many beautiful goals Sulser, performed acrobatic tricks, was a good penalty taker, and above all feared master dribbler. In the match against England (1981) he scored a goal after he was through four defenders at the same confined space into the void.

Sulser survived several forced breaks, including four knee operations and was in the 1978/79 season's top scorer in the European Champions' Cup (now UEFA Champions League). Sulser completed a total of 49 caps for the Swiss national team, scoring 13 goals. A financially lucrative business in Italy, he rejected at the height of his career - even with regard to his professional training - from. Claudio Sulser has completed during his active years as a top footballer a law degree and completed the PhD. He now works as a lawyer in Lugano. Since 2010 he has been president of the Ethics Committee of FIFA.
