INFO:
Berti is a former central or defensive midfielder, capable on the sides as well. He spent most of his career at Inter, making 311 appearances from 1988 to 1998, scoring 41 goals. Some injuries though forced him to miss many matches throughout his career. He played also for Parma, Fiorentina, Tottenham Hotspur, Alavés and Australian club Northern Spirit, where he retired in 2000. He was called up for Italy 39 times, scoring 3 goals.
Berti was an excellent player, gifted with dynamism and outstanding stamina that made him difficult to stop in progression. He always saw himself as an inside midfielder, combining great creativity with concentration and determination, dominating the midfield. He could make long runs at high speed from one half of the field to the other while dribbling opponents, then score or pass the ball, often before going inside the opposing box to take advantage of his timing of reaction in front of the goal. He was tall and possessed good strength, was smart in the box and fell many times after receiving a foul. Whilst he was capable of delivering accurate long range shots and headers, he seemed less accurate in favorable situations in front of the goalkeeper. Considered as the "man of the derby", he apparently was unstoppable especially against Milan. He didn't have great tactical awareness but he still had good passing ability on both feet. It's said that he was a narcisist and during the half-time of a match that Inter was losing 1-0 against Milan, Walter Zenga punched him because Berti was caring about fixing his hair instead of concentrating. Despite his love for nightlife, he had great performances in the field.
