INFO:
Tentoni is a former centre forward and occasionally left winger. He played mostly for Cremonese, scoring 45 goals in 141 matches from 1992 to 1996. During this period, he was very close to be called-up for Italy and supposed to take part to the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Unfortunately, that didn't happen due to the player getting chickenpox. He played also for Piacenza, ChievoVerona and Pescara among others. He retired in 2000.
Tentoni was gifted with a tall and strong physique that didn't stop him from having great sprint and speed on progression that made him particularly able and dangerous on counter-attack. His coach Gigi Simoni considered him as the best centre forward in such situation. Thanks to timing of reaction, determination at intercepting the defenders and very good heading ability, he was a threat inside the box. He possessed also remarkable technique and dribbling, thanks to which he could find space to shoot by himself. Mainly left-footed, he could use the right foot with equal accuracy. He scored many goals with volleys but missed easy ones in many occasions and lacked of consistency. That's probably another reason why he wasn't granted with a match for Italy. A good assist-man other than scorer, he was occasionally used on the left flank to take more advantage of this characteristic. In fact, he could deliver suprisingly good short passes and crosses.
