INFO:
Keown is a former centre back. He spent the majority of his career at Arsenal, where his began in 1984. He didn't convince after the first season. So, he was first loaned to Brighton & Hove Albion in 1985 and sold to Aston Villa the following season. He played 132 matches for Aston Villa in three seasons, scored 3 goals. He joined Everton in 1989, playing 126 games in four seasons. He eventually came back to Arsenal in 1993 as a better defender. He formed there an almost impenetrable defence with Tony Adams. He left the "Gunners" after 422 appearances and 8 goals from 1993 to 2004. He retired in 2005 after short spells at Leicester City and Reading. He gained 43 caps for England, scoring twice.
A fighting and indomitable defender, Keown was one of the toughest and most uncompromising centre backs in the England during the 1990s. Strong and aggressive, he possessed good pace and a ferocious tackling ability, was a good man marker and covered the spaces well. Thanks to these qualities, he could efficiently target and stop the opposing striker from behind or anticipate him quickly. Moreover, he was gifted with a great leap and a good heading ability. He could use both feet and deliver accurate passes from the back. He was able also in the occasional position of defensive midfielder due to his anchoring ability as well as his good reading of the game.
