Pagano was a right winger and he's probably one of the best ever players in Pescara's history, club with which he played 201 matches and scored 53 goals between 1985 and 1992. He was one of the key players during the 1986-87 season which ended with the Serie A promotion. He also had good seasons at Perugia, playing 116 games and scoring 8 times between 1992 and 1996. During his career he also played for many other clubs including Alessandria, Udinese and Ancona. He retired from professional football in 1999.
Pagano was a fast player who mostly played largely in the pitch and running like a thunderbolt down the right side. When he had the ball on his feet he almost always did the same movement: a diabolical feint, faking to go towards the side and going inside with the right foot towards the center. He was nicknamed "Garrincha of Pescara" due to this skill that made many defenders go crazy. He was not only an accurate scorer but also a good passer. Dangerous on counterattacks, he was hard to stop, so that Milan's legend Paolo Maldini said about him: "Pagano was the hardest player to mark who I ever faced". Often approached by bigger Italian clubs, he always decided to stay with Pescara. Pescara 2-0 Torino: goal after a very fast run Pescara 2-0 Juventus: a similar goal but more powerful Cesena 0-1 Pescara: goal after a good acceleration Documentary about Pagano Pescara 1986-87 season
