Lessi was a left-back and one of Livorno greatest legends. In fact he played for the club from 1953 to 1969 in Serie B and Serie C and he's the record-man for appearances with 369. In the middle he had shorts spells at Pontedera in 1955-56 and Torino in 1960-61, having the chance to play 3 matches in Serie A.
Lessi was a strong defender who apparently looked calm and gentle but truthfully he was tough like a rock, all action and no talk. His defensive ability wasn't too good since, due to his roughness, he caused many fauls, especially against faster wingers. He wasn't slow since he was good at reaching the ball before his opponents but when he had to defend, he had an easier task against slower and more physical opponents.
