Simone Inzaghi is a former centre forward. He had his best seasons at the end of the 1990s, scoring 15 goals in 30 matches for Piacenza in 1997-98 and 19 goals in 40 appearances for Lazio in 1998-99. He played a total of 196 games and scored 55 goals for the Biancocelesti until his retirement in 2010 ─ he was loaned to Sampdoria in 2005 and Atalanta in 2007-08. He gained 3 caps for Italy coming in as substitute.
Often compared to his brother Filippo, Simone Inzaghi wasn't as skillful and technical gifted. Tall and strong, he could resist to his opponents charges. Gifted with great opportunism and sense of position, he possessed a good scoring ability, particularly inside the box and from close range. He was capable in the air thanks to a great leap and a good heading ability. He wasn't too quick but was effective when playing on the edge of the offside trap. He proved to be also an efficient penalty taker, especially in the 1997-98 season at Piacenza, where he scored half of his goals from the penalty spot.
