His career started in 1977 at Étoile du Congo, where he played until 1982, scoring an impressive 197 goals in 203 appearances. He transferred to France in 1982, signing for Olympique de Marseille, where he stayed until 1984. He then played for Le Puy between 1984 and 1986, Olympique Lyonnais between 1986 and 1988, and Chamois Niortais between 1988 and 1991. He played almost only in Division 2 except for his last season in Division 4 with Poitiers FC in 1991-92. He scored 42 goals in 249 matches during his professional seasons in Division 2. N'Domba represented Congo 38 times between 1974 and 1992, scoring 8 goals. Although he was born in 1954, his Lyon official player license stated that he was born in 1960. N'Domba is considered one of the greatest players in Congo's history. He was a key player for Étoile du Congo in the late 1970s, helping the team win three national titles. He then left an indelible mark in the French second division thanks to his exceptional football sense, excellent ability to read the game, and his passes that were executed with pinpoint accuracy. These qualities earned him the nickname géomètre. N'Domba wasn't only a skillful playmaker who provided assists to all his strikers. He was also capable of scoring from any position. He knew how to make his teammates score but his versatile style of play allowed him to be very effective as a scorer despite playing mainly in midfield. A small player with a low center of gravity, he was obsessed with dribbling and drove both opponents and teammates crazy when he made his endless and effortful runs, especially towards the goal, thanks to his tireless engine. |
