Bahamboula is a former right-winger. He spent his entire career with Diables Noirs from 1968 to 1987. He capped for Congo at least 56 times between 1969 and 1982 ─ other sources claim 117 appearances ─ scoring 13 goals and winning the 1972 Africa Cup of Nations. In 2006, he was one of the names included in the list of the best 200 African players of the past 50 years compiled by CAF.
Nicknamed Tostao after the Brazilian legend, Bahamboula is considered one of the the best African wingers of the 1970s and one of the best Congolese players of all time. Extremely talented and gifted with great sense of fair play, he was known for his excellent pace on and off the ball, exciting dribbling skills, remarkable goals, vision and accurate crossing ability. Although, his crosses were mostly bad during the 1972 African Cup final. Bahamboula also possessed stamina, agility, skill in keeping the ball, and ability to free himself from his markers.
