Niangou was a left-back. He spent his career at Diables Noirs in the 1960s and 1970s. He represented Congo at least from 1965 to 1972, winning the 1972 Africa Cup of Nations.
Niangou was a primarily defensive side-back. He was good at anticipating opposing strikers and covering behind his teammates in the back-line. He was quick off the ball, possessed solid technical qualities and ball distribution. He was right-footed despite playing on the left flank. Niangou challenged an opponent on occasion but would rather provide a teammate with a long ball or start the play from the back with a short pass.
