Ibrahima Sory Keïta, also known as Petit Sory to distinguish him from his brother, is a former right-winger who could also play in any other attacking position. He spent his entire career at Hafia FC between 1965 and 1981, being part of the club during its golden era. He capped for Guinea 36 times between 1967 and 1977, scoring 12 goals. His highlight at international level was the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations where he reached the final and scored an important goal against Ethiopia. He was named in the team of the tournament. Four year prior, he was selected as part of the African all stars team that played the 1972 Independence Cup in Brazil. Following the competition, not only was he named best right-winger in Africa but also in the entire world.
A valuable asset to his coaches for his consistency and versatility in different roles, Keïta was a formidable player, known for his liveliness, tactical intelligence, exceptional speed that allowed him to outpace opposing defenders, impressive technique, oustanding trademark dribbling helped by unpredictability and terrific agility that made him able to create space in the most solid defenses. Along with his individual qualities, he was also known for vision and ability to read the game as he once stated: « I was happier if I gave my teammates scoring opportunities than when I scored a goal myself ». In fact, he was the one who set right-back Bangoura's attack with a long pass from his own defense during the final minutes of the second leg of the 1975 African Cup of Champions Clubs final against the Nigerians of Enugu Rangers at the end of which the defender earned himself a penalty. The successful career of Petit Sory was also made possible by his winning mindset as he was always ready to take on the toughest challenges.
