INFO:
Berkhissa was a left-back. He spent his career at Espérance Tunis from 1991 to 1997, making 98 appearances and scoring 9 goals. He capped for Tunisia 26 times, scoring 6 goals and reaching the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations final. He was chosen as both Tunisian Player of the Year and Arab Player of the Year in 1995. He tragically passed away on 4 January 1997 because of a heart attack suffered in the last minutes of a friendly match between Espérance Tunis and Olympic Lyonnais.
Arguably the greatest left-back in the history of Tunisian football, Berkhissa had the chance to prove that in his unfortunately short career. He was a complete player who possessed terrific strength due to his massive physique but also great speed on the distance and remarkable technical qualities that allowed him to play on the left side efficiently. He could defend well, providing covering and taking the ball from his opponents with solid tackles. But he was even better in the attack as he could get past a few opponents by using his dribbling, although his ball control wasn't very good, and resist the challenges from the defenders thanks to his unmatched physical power. He also possessed good ball distribution, a powerful shot with his natural left foot, an excellent ability to hit headers with fury and accuracy. He wasn't the kind of player who can give up as he kept running up and down the flank for the whole match, showing great fighting spirit, helping in the center of the field if necessary, reaching the opposition's area if he had the chance.
