INFO:Kitonsa was a centre-forward. He spent almost his entire career at Express FC in his native country Uganda, debuting in 1959 and retiring in 1979 at the age of 40. He became the first Ugandan to play for a professional league when he joined Egyptian team Zamalek in 1964 though he only stayed there for a bit more than half a year. In 1964, he also scored 54 goals in 18 games in the Kampala District First Division League for Express FC, setting a record for most goals in a season that still stands today even though it's considered unofficial because the Kampala District ceased to be the top tier division when the Super League was established in 1968. He officially capped for Uganda 13 times between 1963 and 1965, scoring 27 goals. However, he started playing internationally in 1961, likely even earlier, and he allegedly capped more than 30 times for his national team. If that's correct, then the number of his international goals could be even higher. Nonetheless, it's said that he scored over 200 goals throughout his career.
Considered one of the greatest ever Ugandan footballers and the pioneer of football in the country, Kitonsa was an amazing goal machine, first discovered in 1958 and signed by Express FC one year later due to his offensive skills. According to experts, he's the most prolific goalscorer the country has ever produced. Kitonsa had a short and diminitive physique but he made up for it with speed and accurate finishing. His club Express FC remembers him as a man who never missed a single game in two decades. He's the only player to ever score a hat-trick against Egypt in an official match which he did in a 4-1 win to qualify to the 1965 All Africa Games. He also scored 5 or 6 goals against Zanzibar in a 8-0 win at the 1963 Gossage Cup (now called CECAFA Cup).
