INFO:Odametey was a centre-back and half-back. He spent his career at Hearts of Oak during the 1960s. He capped for Ghana at least 28 times, scoring not less than 2 goals. He won the 1963 and 1965 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, the second as captain.
Always wearing the jersey number 4 or 5, Odametey is considered one of the greatest defenders in Ghana's history. He was a rocky player despite his short size and a skilled, versatile defender capable of reading the situation. He distinguished himself for his leadership, ability to organise to play and tough but fair tackling. He proved to be arguably the best centre-half in Africa the historic 3-0 win over Sudan in the 1963 Africa Cup final.
