INFO:
Murila is a former centre-back. His career started in the 1968 at Hombe FC. He transferred to Mulembe FC in 1971 and Abe Ingo in 1974. He had his best time at AFC Leopards where he played from 1979 to 1987. He capped for Kenya 63 times between 1979 and 1985, scoring once. He played a major role in the three CECAFA Cups that Kenya won consecutively between 1981 and 1983.
Considered one of the greatest defenders Kenya has ever produced, Murila was known as "the Controller" for how he controlled the defense and the way he talked and gave advices to his teammates to help them bond together. Murila started his career as striker only to become a central midfielder and then establish himself as a centre-half. He possessed high speed for a defender, a cool temperament, and super ball control that made him skilled on the ground as much as he was in the air. He was always accurate and fair when he tried to take the ball off his opponent as he never put a foot wrong and received only one card, a yellow, in his entire career. He was very focused in the defense but could still overlap and initiate the offense thanks to his past as midfielder in order to give his team an advantage in the attack. And despite having a physique of moderate height and not great build, he still stood tall against big and intimidating strikers thanks to a combination of high intelligence, calculated interceptions, precise judgment on the ball and great timing in the tackle. He would win possession by using skill instead of hard tackling before passing the ball accurately to his teammate with great composure despite his team being under attack. Bobby Ogolla was the one to do the dirty work with hard tackles.
