INFO:Kiswanto is a former sweeper and defensive midfielder. His career started in 1979 at Pardedetex Medan. He then played for Yanita Utama from 1983 to 1985, Kramayudha Tiga Berlian from 1985 to 1991, Assyabaab Surabaya from 1991 to 1993, Bandung Raya from 1993 to 1996, retiring at 41. An Indonesia international from 1981 to 1996, he capped 40 times and scored 3 goals. He was the captain of the Indonesia side that nearly qualified for the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
Always playing in a defensive role, Kiswanto started his career in midfield but was turned into a libero so that he could mobilise the defense as well as start the attacks. Even though his first team was Pardedetex Medan that was known for its dirty play, Kiswanto showed great sportsmanship instead. In fact, he never played unfairly and received only one yellow card in his career due to protesting. The lack of cards wasn't even due to a perfect timing in the tackles. In truth, he never tackled his opponents ─ according to his own words. He was a calm defender, always neat when challenging his opponent one-on-one. Suprisingly good in the attack on occasion, he's also remembered for a spectacular goal that he scored against Thailand at the 1985 Southeast Asian Games: a curling long range shot from the halfway line that fooled the goalkeeper.
